From Radio Roundtables to the NRA Annual Meeting

April meant back on the road. Be it in the air, or on the road. Las Vegas, Atlanta and Tallahassee. It’s been a busy month—yes, full of travel, but more importantly conversations about protecting our nation's schools and defending our rights.

🎙️ On the Air: Sunday Nights with Armed American Radio

I’m excited to share that I’m now a regular guest on the Sunday Monster Cast Roundtable, hosted by Mark Walters on Armed American Radio. Each week, we dive into the latest headlines surrounding the Second Amendment, news, defensive gun uses, firearms policy, school and public safety.

The conversations are lively, passionate, and—most importantly—focused on defending your rights while keeping our communities safe. It’s a real honor to join a panel of voices committed to truth and freedom.

The show airs every Sunday evening on over 400 hundred radio stations across the country, and you can also stream it wherever you get your podcasts:

Whether you’re tuning in live or catching the replay, I’d love to have you with us.

📰 Debut in The Federalist

I recently was published for the first time in The Federalist, where I unpack some of the most dangerous myths surrounding gun control and school safety. It’s a message I’ve carried from The White House to Congress to state legislatures to national media—we can protect our children without infringing on our rights.

In the article, “Gun Control Doesn’t Stop Shootings Outside The United States, So It Won’t Here Either”, I challenge the prevailing narrative that stricter gun laws are the solution to preventing school shootings. I argue that such tragedies are not unique to the United States and that determined attackers often find ways to inflict harm regardless of firearm regulations. The focus should instead be on proactive measures that address the root causes of violence and enhance the safety of our schools. In fact I demonstrate that contrary to the prevailing narrative, the United States does not have the most mass public shootings and that the U.S. is actually safer, than many European countries–even the ones we often think of as free of gun violence.

Are there countries in Europe with less gun violence than the United States? Yes, but according to Lott’s analysis, when Lott and team looked at data from 89 countries, the United States ranked 58th, and even lower for its murder rate (62nd). In fact, many so-called peer countries — including Finland, Norway, and Switzerland — have higher per capita rates of murder from mass public shootings, a rate up to 45 percent higher than the United States, in direct contradiction to the assertions made by Watts and Everytown. Because these countries have more stringent firearm regulations than the United States, Lott’s analysis calls into question the efficacy of more stringent firearms regulations in reducing mass public shootings.

I'll take a moment and thank Dr. John Lott for his research on global mass public shootings that made my piece possible. John is the President of The Crime Prevention Research Center, a personal friend and perhaps the premiere researcher setting the record straight on the use of firearms and crime statistics. If you have the means, the Crime Prevention Research Center is a worthy organization and your donation will keep one of the only sources for honest research about crime, gun violence and effective policing active.

🎧 Guest Appearance on Ian Haworth’s Off Limits Podcast

I recently sat down with Ian Haworth for his excellent podcast Off Limits. We talked candidly about:

  • The painful lessons from Parkland
  • The ongoing fight over gun control
  • What actually works to stop targeted violence in schools

Ian’s a sharp interviewer and gave me space to unpack some of the more complex—and personal—realities of this work.

🛫 On the Ground at ISC West in Las Vegas

April started with my second trip to Las Vegas this year. This time it was for ISC West 2025, the country’s largest security industry conference. With over 30,000 attendees, ISC West is where public safety leaders, tech innovators, and school security experts come together to share what’s next.

I was there on behalf of my client, XSponse, whose cutting-edge emergency response platform is making waves in the industry. Their work didn’t go unnoticed—XSponse took home the award for Best New Environmental Monitoring Product in this year’s SIA New Product Showcase.

While at ISC West, I had the opportunity to interview XSponse CEO Lee Mandel about their technology and how it’s helping schools respond faster and more effectively during emergencies.

🏛️ Working with Lawmakers on School Safety

This work takes collaboration—and this month I had the chance to meet with some outstanding public servants in Texas and Utah.

  • In Texas, I joined Andrew Pollack, Meadow Pollack’s father, on a call with Rep. Steve Toth (R–South Montgomery County). We talked about practical ways to improve campus safety and the importance of enforcing existing security laws like those proposed in HB 1010.
  • In Utah, I’ve been working with state leaders as they prepare to launch a comprehensive school safety initiative, led in the Utah Legislature by Rep. Ryan Wilcox. Ryan has championed this cause for years, and I’m grateful to support the work underway to protect Utah’s students. He's been a huge champion of school safety. It's is encouraging to work with officials like Representative Wilcox and Matt Pennington of the Utah Department of Public Safety. They are blazing a trail on school safety before tragedy strikes. Students, educators and especially the parents of Utah's students may never know about the work these two (and dozens of others) do to protect Utah's K-12 schools. I hope they never have to know.

👥 NRA Annual Meeting

To round out the month, I attended the NRA Annual Meeting in Atlanta. I met with with NRA officials to talk about school safety and pushing back on the efforts of the Biden Administration and gun control activists to vilify law-abiding gun owners. On top of that

Biden’s Domestic Terrorism Plan: Overreach That Threatens Gun Owners’ RightsBearing Arms

In this column, I took a hard look at the Biden administration’s expanded “domestic terrorism” framework and its chilling implications for lawful gun owners. What began as a plan to address real threats is now being used to surveil, silence, and stigmatize Americans who support the Second Amendment, limited government, or even homeschool their kids. I exposed how this strategy blurs the line between criminal behavior and constitutionally protected political beliefs, weaponizing federal resources against everyday citizens. The real danger? It isn’t just who this plan targets now — it’s who they’ll target next.

Thank you for following along, reading, and supporting this work. Whether it’s in front of a microphone, on a call with lawmakers, or walking the halls of a security conference, I carry your support with me as I continue to support the fight for safer schools and stronger constitutional rights. And there's no slowdown in May.

Let’s keep moving forward—together.
